Ask Bernadette: What Job Boards do you Recommend for Job Searches?

Job Seeker Question: "I have tried some of the big ones and I get more spam and job offers not remotely related to what I do. What ones do recruiters like yourself use?"

We still like the larger job boards: Indeed, Zip Recruiter, Glassdoor and Linkedin.

There are two ways to use a job board: (1) post your resume or (2) set yourself up job alerts.

Note: If you post your resume online with a way to contact you, you will receive emails on positions that are not related to what you are looking for. Some websites will allow you to hide your contact information so you can only be contacted through the recruiting site.

If you are actively looking for another positions, we recommend doing both.

If you’re not as active, we recommend setting up job alerts based upon what you are looking for.

Fake jobs? Most of the time they are just reposts of older positions that have been filled. Having said that, fake jobs are out there, and you do want to be careful who you give your personal information to.
